USTA National Campus.
Win 8-1.

All video was done using the on site cameras connected to PlaySight.
PlaySight didn’t record but these two matches.

Turns out this was the last tournament play,

Cinderella Story

For the Mobile Icy Hot I had a doubles partner all lined up.
Not my usual doubles partner, though.

2 days before the tournament, the director sent a text saying my partner had pulled out.

About 15 minutes later we got another text, saying there was another player without a partner.

Luke Wolf.

We got paired together.

We know each other, but haven’t played together before.

First match was tough, but we started slow 1-4, but played solid and hung in there, won 6-4.
Second match was against the 4 seeds, sent them packing 6-3.
Third match was against the 5 seeds, again we won 6-3.

Our winning streak stopped there losing to the 2 seeds 6-4.
We played for 3rd place and lost that, also, but not before going to deuce 10 times in the final game…6-3.
It was a good run. I’m OK with 4th, but feel like we should have been in the finals.

You might notice we are forcing our smiles.

Nat’l Dubs Final – Winning

We made it to the Southwest Section Finals.
This is a Compass Draw…Always confusing.

While we didn’t play our best,
we toughed it out and won in straight sets.

National Doubles Southwest Champions.

National Dubs Day 2 Winning

Today we had short sets, starting 2-2.

Our first match of the day didn’t end well.
We split sets and lost in a tie breaker.

The second set was better.
We went to a tie breaker with the 6 seeds
and won.

The third set of the day was key…
it would decide whether we go home or
stay for the finals on Sunday.

No tie breaker this time,
win in straight sets!

National Dubs Day 1

We got almost 2 sets in before the rain.
We lost the first set and second set tied at 5-5.

5 hours later we got back on court.

We took it to a 3rd set and won!
